About Kaitlyn
I found yoga when I was 19, on a little retreat in Cambodia. I had no idea then what it would mean to me, but that retreat planted a seed. When I returned back to Seattle and finished college, I was again drawn to Asia. I was unsatisfied with the 9-5 life that was inevitably before me, and I decided to pack up my backpack and move to Thailand.
Through my travels over the next seven years, I was constantly searching for a meaning or purpose, a way to make sense of this life. As I delved deeper into my yoga practice, and learned from my teachers, I grew to realize what I was looking for had been there inside of me all along.
“Yoga does not promise us a life free from suffering or struggle. Instead, it gives us the tools to keep the mind steady through the hardship.”
This desire to live a life of meaning led me to the practice of yoga as an art form. When I found yoga, I was expecting a physical workout. But the more I showed up to my mat, the more yoga took hold of my mind, and the inner work commenced. Over the years, I have been peeling back the layers of myself with unwavering curiosity. Yoga brings me back home, again and again. I don’t need to travel as much as I used to because I’m no longer seeking something outside of myself. The mundane can become divine if you learn to see it that way.
I believe that my dharma in life is to throw kindness into the world like confetti, and I try to take aspects of ahimsa, or non-violence, into all areas of my life. Most often, the person who we are cruelest to is ourselves.
“How we speak to ourselves matters .It is only through healing ourselves and showing up for the inner work that we can begin to spread kindness and loving compassion into the world.“
As a teacher, I try to facilitate a space for exploration, while encouraging students to let their inner wisdom and their authentic selves emerge into their full freedom. I encourage the exploration of inner and outer worlds, guided by feeling, in order to express deep truths.
I am currently based in Guadalajara, Mexico, and teach private classes, as well as weekly group classes.
